Chess puzzle ranks: from Pawn to Grandmaster

How the rating works
- Everyone starts at 650, in the middle of Pawn I. There's no placement test: the first puzzles are easy, so your first promotion arrives quickly, and strong players climb fast.
- Your rating only changes in Training and Theme mode. The daily puzzle, the learning path and reviews are pressure-free.
- Solve a puzzle without help and your rating rises. A wrong move, a hint, viewing the solution or skipping after your first move counts as not solved, and your rating drops.
- Every puzzle has its own rating, so beating a hard puzzle earns more than beating an easy one, and missing an easy one costs more.
- Once you've reached a rank, you never drop below its first step. The number can go down, the rank you earned stays. Your best rating is shown separately.
Why ranks instead of just a number?
A rating that moves from 1,137 to 1,152 is hard to feel. A promotion from Knight II to Knight III is something you can celebrate. Ranks break the long climb into short, reachable goals, and Springer throws a little party for each one.
